Overview

The purpose of this service is to show upcoming departure times for all stops and stations in the Network West Midlands area.

You can search for specific stops and stations, browse the map, and then click on the markers to show forthcoming departure times.

For convenience you can save favourites to a personal My Stops page, and then go straight to this page to see them at any time.

Information comes both from live information systems, which track some buses and all trains in real-time, and from schedules. There is always information available, but departures may either be real-time or scheduled depending on the route.

Some places of interest are also marked on the map, so you can easily see nearby transport options.

Pages

The website has two main pages:

  1. The Map Page, which allows you to search, shows a map of the area, and shows departures for the currently selected stop or station.
  2. The My Stops Page, which is personalised, showing departures from your saved favourites.

Searching

On the Map Page you can search for a stop or station by entering an address, postcode or place name.

An address can be whole or partial, but the more precise you can be the easier it will be for the system to identify the required stop.

The system then finds matching places and shows the results both in a list and on the map to help you identify the right one. Pick a stop either by clicking on it in the list or on the map.

Departure times

Once a stop or station has been selected a list of upcoming departures will appear below the map. Some times shown are real-time, whereas some are from a schedule and so don't reflect any disruptions or delays.

The list of departures can be reordered by clicking on one of the column headings - Route, To, or Time.

Add to My Stops includes the current stop in your personal page for 1-click future reference.

The Refresh button allows you to set the page to autorefresh, so that it will keep checking for the latest bus times and displaying updates on a regular basis.

Other options are provided by the Filter Routes button, which allows you to limit departures to specific bus routes rather than seeing all; the SMS button, which explains the service available to get bus times by text; the Plan a Journey button, which links to another site where you can get detailed advice on how to get from A to B; and the Plan Your Walking Route button, which provides directions to or from the current location.

Browsing the map

You can browse the map to search visually for other stops and stations and simply click them to see times. Use the mouse to move around and zoom in and out, or use the control in the top left corner of the map.

My Stops

Clicking on the My Stops link at the top of the Map Page takes you to a personalised page showing times for any stops you have previously saved as favourites.

These stops can be reordered by dragging the title bar of the panels up and down.
